About Us

Mission Statement

The Pilgrim Foundation works to meet the spiritual, material, physical, and educational needs of the most vulnerable members of society. This work is done through orphan advocacy and care, education, and provision of basic physical needs. Our grants aim to strengthen the ability of non-profits to meet these needs locally and internationally, so that the love of Jesus Christ may be seen and felt in our community and beyond.

The Pilgrim Foundation was founded in 1998. Our goal is to follow Jesus Christ’s instructions to care for the most vulnerable members of society. To us, this means helping those whose life, freedom, medical care, or access to education are threatened, and providing them with spiritual guidance and support. Our grantmaking is guided by several core beliefs:

We believe that all human life, born or unborn, is a sacred creation of God. This belief guides our support for crisis pregnancy centers and social services such as adoption agencies (Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:4-5).

We believe that every child deserves food and shelter, medical care, and education. Our grants demonstrate this belief through support for food and medical programs, orphan care, and providing tuition to send children to school.

We believe that to change societies for the better, we must develop leaders that will share in our biblical mission. We support Christian schools and organizations which train and equip people to meet the needs of the vulnerable and oppressed, as we are instructed in Isaiah 1:17-18,

Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.

And in Proverbs 31:8-9,

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Finally, we believe that true and lasting change can only occur through a change of the heart by the love of Jesus Christ and work of the Holy Spirit.  In all that we do, we are motivated and inspired by his sacrifice for us, and we are mindful of his words in Matthew 25:34-40,

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
